If you are thinking of selling your home it can be a good idea to discuss its approximate value with a person knowledgeable about such things. This person can be a real estate agent or a real estate appraiser. You can also check out real estate listings in the local paper or real estate publication This information will be of benefit when it comes to determining what a reasonable selling price for your home would be. You don't want to ask too much. You also don't want to ask too little! Ye olde 'rule o' thumb' seems to be: If your home is not sold in three or so weeks, the price is too high for your home's potential market.
